Christmas Spiders

Yes I did just use the words Christmas and spiders together.  For those of you that have never seen these wonderful Christmas ornaments, you are definitely missing out!  My family and I have been making these beautiful spiders for years now.  My husband was making them with his family before we met and the tradition has continued with our own family.  Even my 11 year old loves to make these every year.  In fact they are the reason this blog post has taken me a while to get up.  We always sell these like crazy every year so I have been busy making a ton of them.  In fact I have 2 special orders to make today and I am hoping that the beads I ordered will come today so I can get them done.

I guess I should give a little background on the reason we would be crazy enough to make spiders and stick them on our Christmas tree.  There is an old German story that relates the reason we put tinsel on our trees coming from spider webs.  I don't want to give away the whole story but I am sure you could find it if you wanted to Google it.  The original story, and the one I prefer, talks about a visit from the Christ Child.  We do have copies of the story that have been changed to have Santa as the visitor for those that prefer the secular version of Christmas.  The spiders made with basic beads are $10 each (plus shipping if you aren't local) and come with a copy of the story.  If you want the more expensive beads, like the silver or gold plated beads, then we charge extra depending on the cost of the beads used.  You could even choose to go all out and do Swarovski crystals with real gold and silver beads if you want a really upscale version.  We are able to get almost any color for the beads we use for the legs but the body choices are a little limited since the bulbs do not come in a huge array of colors.  Once in a while we are lucky enough to get some clear bulbs that can be painted but those are very hard to find.  Please feel free to contact me at craftablesbyali.gmail.com if you are interested in getting some spiders for your own trees.
